Discover delectable pastries, savouries, and bread that are all freshly produced on-site, along with exquisitely expressed coffees. The best part is that our dishes, which are truly Portuguese, will keep you coming back for more. Our distinctive brand name is made up of the Portuguese words bem and bom, both of which mean nice or good. They spell out the word fantastic when combined. In our efforts to ensure that we live up to our name, we have taken no short cuts, from the meticulous preparation of our genuine products—both in taste and appearance—to the design and décor of our expertly designed stores. Let's not overlook the warm welcome you will receive from genuine hosts. After renovating the Bedfordview and Comaro stores, Charles and Lee Morte, a husband and wife team who took over Bem Bom in October 2010, showed their dedication and long-term commitment to the Bem Bom brand and its devoted customers. They have made an atmosphere where you can sit down and enjoy a delectable cup of coffee, freshly made pastries and savoury delights, or an authentic Portuguese meal in a casual and welcoming setting because it is their passion to introduce South Africans to a distinctive and interesting side of Portuguese culture. You'll be happy to know that the on-site bakery can package up some delicious treats to take home because Pasteis de Nata (custard tarts) are one of our signature specialties. Read More

What our experts say?

It is impossible to put the flavour combination into words. This restaurant has the best Ethiopian food and coffee in Johannesburg, in my view. The proprietor is incredibly welcoming and willing to educate you about the local way of life and cuisine. Very true to life. The host was friendly, and the chef introduced himself and welcomed us. Every single bite was delicious because the flavours all worked together so well. We also had their Ethiopian coffee and tea, both of which were outstanding.

Everything on the menu is highly recommended. The beef tibs and the wet chicken Daro are seen in the images. The dinner was very delicious! Thank you to Kassa and Yvette for the gracious hospitality, delectable meals, and enjoyable conversation. We ate the lunch after fasting (which is basically a vegan platter). Read More
