My study focused on the grieving processes of parents who had lost a child. The resilience of the parents was highlighted, including how they overcame their grief and adapted to life without their child. I discovered from these parents that having inner strength does not require being weak, and that relationships and human emotional connections help people heal. I'm still passionate about resilience, and I want to help my clients (re)discover their own inner emotional resources and strengths so they can experience personal growth. This will happen in the context of a supportive therapeutic relationship. At the Nelson Mandela University (NMU) in Port Elizabeth, where I also finished my community service, I earned a master's degree in clinical psychology. In this time, I worked at the university's psychology clinic, the Elizabeth Donkin Psychiatric Hospital, the Livingstone Hospital, and community clinics in the Motherwell, Kwazakhele, and New Brighton suburbs with patients of all ages, backgrounds, and diagnoses, as well as those who were experiencing emotional difficulties and practical problems. The Paarl Family Health building at 147 Main Road and my home practise in Rawsonville, where I also provide services to people in Worcester, Wolseley, Ceres, Tulbagh, and other nearby towns, are where I currently enjoy working as a private practitioner. I also enjoy working with nonprofit organisations and other organisations that require my professional assistance, whether it be through individual therapy, group therapy, workshops, or psycho-educational lectures.
