De Jagers has been associated with outstanding quality and welcoming service for the past 67 years.
As much a part of Worcester as its fine wines are this family-run enterprise.
It all began in 1955 when Japie de Jager travelled to Kuils River from Keetmanshoop to see his cousin Frikkie and Frikkie's wife Babs.
Japie, who is 27 years old, also desired to visit Stellenbosch in order to scout out potential sites for his own store.
Japie preferred to have his store

It all began in 1955 when Japie de Jager travelled to Kuils River from Keetmanshoop to see his cousin Frikkie and Frikkie's wife Babs.
Japie, who is 27 years old, also desired to visit Stellenbosch in order to scout out potential sites for his own store.
Japie preferred to have his store close to the Mother City, where he would need to source his supplies, rather than in Cape Town itself.
When the Kuils River store first opened its doors in 1955, it mostly sold clothing for ladies.
On March 1, 1955, the Worcester Japies store formally opened its doors.
In Worcester, Japies' blue Volkswagen bus was a well-known sight.
Japie and Babs frequently had to compete with less expensive options due to the limited size and constraints of their firm.
And that's how the Worcester store got its old, slightly ironic moniker.
Thankfully, Japie Rejects is a forgotten band name.
Japie wed Johanna Janse van Rensburg in 1963, and she joined him in the company.
Japie chose to close that hole.
De Jagers began selling school uniforms in 1972, and the company quickly earned a reputation as a one-stop shop for both fashion and school clothing.
In 1996, the following De Jagers generation assumed control.
Since then, Jobre, Andries, and Pieter have been able to build upon the strong foundation Japie had established.
De Jagers has grown into a group of 38 branches across the Western, Southern, Northern, and now Eastern Cape! thanks to its consistency in providing good customer service and high-quality products.
