The roof of the shop was painted blue and customers often referred to it as Die Blou Winkel in those days most of the business was groceries and deliveries were made by horse or donkey cart In order to make room for the new Solomons Lifestyle, the old store was demolished in 1994. The general dealer shop was converted into a specialty department store with a focus on gas appliances, jewelry, lighting, outdoor activities like camping and hunting, cycling, and fishing.
